Alex has been working as a motoring journalist for the past 15 years. In 2004, he began working as a freelance motoring writer for the RAC of WA, which was in addition to his then-full time role as a finance and resources journalist.

After joining the RAC on a full-time basis in July 2009, Alex was able to fully utilise his passion for motoring and continue his work as a motoring journalist with the RAC’s Horizons magazine. This role, along with his long-running weekly column in The West Australian newspaper, has led to him becoming an established and well known source of motoring news in Western Australia.

As well as being the RAC’s judge on Australia’s Best Cars, Alex’s current position of Manager Vehicles & Fuels, also includes managing the RAC’s involvement in the WA EV trial, ANCAP, the Vehicle Safety Research Group (formerly the Used Car Safety Ratings), the Child Restraint Evaluation Program and the RAC’s position on vehicle technical and fuel pricing policy.

The role has also led to regular appearances on radio and in the RAC’s Horizons magazine as the RAC’s spokesperson on vehicle technology and safety.
